GUARD YOUR HEART

The story of the "Two Wolves Within"..

An old Cherokee Indian chief was teaching his grandson about life.
He said, "A fight is going on inside me," he told the young boy, "a fight between two wolves.
The Dark one is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The Light Wolf is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you grandson…and inside of every other person on the face of this earth.”
The grandson ponders this for a moment and then asked, "Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee smiled and simply said, "The one you feed".

 

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23

Friends, I want to encourage you to guard your heart these last couple of weeks in the year. Be intentional with the media you consume. Be purposeful with the company you keep. Be purposeful about guarding what comes into your mind. And be intentional about feeding your spirit.

The next couple of days take some time to sit with God and ask what guarding your heart look like in this season. It will look different for each of us. For me God is leading me to limit my social media time, increase my reading time, and limit my news intake. I believe my obedience in these areas will strengthen my mind, encourage my heart, and provide the wisdom for the coming seasons.

How can I feed my spirit more in this season?
What areas are draining my spirit?
What scripture is God leading me to right now?

PRAYER: I pray that this season be a season of supernatural spiritual growth. That our spirit is properly fed and nourished. I pray that the areas that need to be pruned or cut out are done so quickly and painlessly. I pray that our hearts are renewed with passion for God and His word. I pray that whatever is pure, lovely, of good report, noble, and praiseworthy our minds stay on those things. To God be the glory. In Jesus name AMEN.
