1Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”
The word humble can be defined as having a low estimate of ones importance. It is not meant that we ought to think of ourselves as the scum of the earth or somebody not worthy. It simple means, in my definition, “sit down somewhere, you ain’t that important!”
Humility displays that you understand that you are not the end all, that there may be someone else who could be more helpful, more talented, more skilled, or more powerful. God instructs us to be humble in His sight. I believe He tells us this because it’s important to know that He has a final word. It’s important for us to realize our position. It’s hard to take the wheel of a car if someone won’t let it go. Humbling yourself will not cost you your self respect. Instead it will help you gain wisdom in situations because you are willing to humble yourself and recognize that you may not have all the answers. But thank God we know He does!
Day 25 in the #iAmchallenge2017 – During the month of May I will post a daily affirmation, corresponding scripture, and short encouragement. Read the affirmation out loud several times today.
