My Sunday Routine

Every Sunday I try to do a short myofascial release and yoga session. I put a high demand on my body throughout the week with my exercise routines and work. On Sundays I like to give her (my body) a little TLC. Self-care is vital to our health and I take mine very seriously. I pray, I meditate, and on Sundays I give my physical body a little restoration.

What is this myofascial release I speak about?
Myofascial release is a hands on technique that involves applying gentle but firm pressure to the connective tissues. This helps decrease pain, restore mobility, and gives me a better range of motion.
Our entire body is covered in fascia (connective tissue) and there are certain spots or trigger points that can occur over the body which limit our range of motion, cause discomfort, and injury. By self massaging I help eliminate and/or decrease my risk of injury. Actually, I attribute my Sunday routine to me having only one injury (lower back) in the last couple of years.

Check out this website for more information on trigger points and myofascial release: https://www.tptherapy.com/learn/bodyawareness

For my yoga session I follow different you-tubers. One of my favorites right now is Yoga with Adriene. Here is a link to the video I’m using right now : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGOrpTLiaec

It is so important that we take care of our mind, spirit, and bodies. If you don’t have a physical self care routine I encourage you to start. Your body will thank you.
